ALEXANDERSON ISSUES

Alexanderson provides another reason why we should be paying closer attention to emerging Welsh music, one which is delivering some real contenders in the electronic pop scene. For example, there’s the moody atmospherics of Violet Skies, the soaring symphonies of Casi and now the slick R&B touch of Alexanderson - all possess differences in their own right, but it’s the heavy use of digital tools that’s a consistent thread linking these individuals. The high quality of ‘Issues’ probably has something to do with Alexanderson’s five years experience as a producer and songwriter for artists and labels worldwide; skills which this Newport-based artist has employed into his first solo single. It’s blissfully pop with hints of R&B in the smooth croon and melodious trap, reflecting the equally blissful state of “lust and ignorance” that occurs in an isolated relationship. It’s something that Alexanderson witnessed himself and pours directly into the hook-led lyric, “you and me have got issues, but don’t face it, we’ll blame it on somebody else.” - HT
